Acrylic Markers
Acrylic markers are a product that uses a relatively new technology that uses water-based acrylic paints. Due to their ease of application and specific properties, acrylic markers are becoming increasingly popular.
The main advantage of acrylic markers is their ability to paint on all materials (paper, plastic, wood, stone, porcelain, glass and more). The marker covers the surface with a thin but very thick paint that is lightfast and waterproof. The opaque ink is chemically stable and fast drying, odorless, non-toxic, environmentally friendly and permanent on porous surfaces.
Acrylic pens consist of the following parts: a plastic body including the cap, a pumping mechanism that allows the ink to come out of the pen, a ball that mixes the ink as it moves through the pen body, a water-based binder, acrylic ink and a nib.
When choosing a pen, it is the choice of nib that we place the most emphasis on. Nibs vary not only in shape and thickness, but also in the material from which they are made (plastic or a stick of porous fibre).
Markers are an excellent complement or substitute for acrylic paints. It is not necessary to own a palette and brushes when using them, as they can be easily mixed directly on the surface.
